“I'm not a burglar. I've proved it for myself， but I can't find a burglar. Let's wait for the police.（我不是盗窃者，我已经为自己证明了，但是我找不到盗窃者，我们还是等警察吧。）”
“We found out that only three people were suspect， and you have ruled out， then they are two.（我们查出来只有三个人有嫌疑，你已经排除，那么就剩他们两了。）”东方男子指了指顾星乔和宋七梧，“ If they could not prove themselves， they could only wait for the police to e and hand them over to the police.（他们无法为自己证明的话，只能等警察来了，把他们交给警察了。）”
东方男子有些戏谑的看着顾星乔和宋七梧，似乎并不担心找不到盗窃者或者他需要赔偿烟斗的费用。
这时候，伦敦警察已经到了，因为只是一起失窃案，而且失窃的东西只是一个不值钱的烟斗，所以他们并不重视，出警很慢。
“It's a lovely day today， but unfortunately， I've encountered another thieves. How are you? Hudson?（今天天气真不错，可遗憾的是又遭遇了盗窃者，你好吗？赫德森。）”
“Yes， Edward. It's time for you. We've found the thieves. You just have to take them back for questioning.（是的，爱德华，你来得可真是时候，我们已经找到了盗窃者，你只需将他们带回去询问即可）”
爱德华感到很意外，“Is it? God bless，you found the thieves.Tell me who is the thief this time.（是吗？上帝保佑，你们居然找到了盗窃者，告诉我这次的盗窃者是谁？）”
“I hate to believe it， but the fact is， the thieves were this handsome gentleman and his beautiful wife， because they couldn't prove that they didn't steal a pipe.（我很不愿意相信，但事实就是，盗窃者是这位英俊的先生和他的美丽的太太，因为他们无法证明自己没有盗窃烟斗。）”说话的是东方男子。
“Ok，thank you.（好的，谢谢）”爱德华警官向东方男子道了谢，拿出手铐准备将顾星乔和宋七梧拷起来。
宋七梧看了顾星乔一眼，见他不打算说话，便开口道，“Wait.（等等）”
“Madam， what else do you need to defend?（女士，你还有什么要辩解的吗？）”爱德华警官问。
宋七梧说，“My husband and I are not thieves， and we know who the thieves are.（我和我丈夫不是盗窃者，并且我们知道盗窃者是谁。）”
顾星乔看着宋七梧微微一笑，他就知道，他的媳妇早已洞察了一切，小小一个失窃案，不值得大动干戈，就让这些人见识一下中国人的厉害，给了宋七梧一个“媳妇儿最棒”的眼神，他便坐在一旁喝咖啡了。
“What? You say you know who the thief is? Are you kidding， lady?（什么？你说你知道盗窃者是谁？女士，你在开玩笑吗？）”爱德华警官不相信。
其他人也都用怀疑的眼光看着宋七梧，开始窃窃私语。
面对大家的质疑，宋七梧不慌不忙，“I'm not kidding you， officer Edward. After all， I don't want to waste my honeymoon in solving a case.（我没空跟你开玩笑，爱德华警官，毕竟我不想把蜜月时间浪费在破案上。）”
爱德华警官有些惊讶，原来这对看起来很恩爱的年轻夫妻是来度蜜月的，蜜月旅行遇到这种事，恐怕他们会认为这次伦敦之情不太愉快了，而且很少有人蜜月选择来参观福尔摩斯博物馆的。
爱德华警官也想知道到底谁是盗窃者，“Lady， can you tell me who is thieves?（女士，请你告诉我，谁是盗窃者？）”
宋七梧莞尔一笑，“（我猜是馆主，或者是你。）”宋七梧指指东方男子。
馆主，东方男子，爱德华警官，还有其他参观者，皆露出吃惊的表情，尤其东方男子更惊诧。
“I think this lady must be joking with officer Edward. How can the owner of the house steal it? And why do I steal a pipe?（我想这位夫人一定是在跟爱德华警官来玩笑呢，馆主怎么可能监守自盗？而我又为什么要盗窃烟斗？）”东方男子辩驳起来。
“All the visitors and waiters were questioned， and they all proved that they were not thieves， that the gentleman had proved himself， and that neither I nor my husband had stolen， leaving you and the owner of the Hudson Pavilion.（所有的参观者和侍者都被询问过，他们都证明了自己不是盗窃者，这位先生也已经为自己证明过了，而我和我的丈夫也没有盗窃，那就只剩下你和赫德森馆主了。）”宋七梧先用排除法，末了，还跟大家开了个玩笑，“Did the pipe fly away with its wings?（难道烟斗自己长了翅膀飞走了？）”
“Ha ha ha...（哈哈哈……）”参观者全都哄笑起来。
赫德森馆主忽然问，“What's the reason?（理由呢？）”而且，被怀疑为盗窃者，她看起来一点也不担心。
宋七梧摊开手，“Maybe this is a joke. If I'm not mistaken， Hudson and this...你怎么称呼？（或许这就是一个玩笑，如果我没猜错的话，赫德森馆主和这位……你怎么称呼？）”宋七梧这才想起问东方男子的名字，而且是用中文问的。
没想到东方男子也用中文回答，“我叫林木。”
“OK， Mr. Lin， he and Hudson， who are known， may still be friends.（行，林木先生，他和赫德森馆主是认识的，或许还是朋友。）”
林木眼中划过一抹光亮，顾星乔没有错过。
赫德森馆主也惊喜的问，“Unbelievably， how do you know we know each other?（难以置信，你是如何知道我们认识的？）”
“First， he was very skillful when he asked you questions， and he was familiar with the two rooms. Second， when he proposed that the theft should be solved by ourselves， the owner of the Hudson Pavilion agreed unconditionally. If you were not friends， I don't think the owner of the Hudson Pavilion would agree to his proposal so easily.（第一，刚才询问大家的时候，他表现得很娴熟，而且对这两间屋子也很熟悉，第二，当他提出失窃事件由我们自己解决的时候，赫德森馆主毫无条件的同意了，如果你们不是朋友，我想赫德森馆主不会这么轻易同意他的提议。）”
“But that doesn't prove they're thieves.（但是，这也不能证明他们就是盗窃者啊。）”爱德华警官说，“ Lin may be a policeman， so skilled at asking visitors.（或许，林也是警察，所以询问参观者才那么娴熟呢。）”
“No， Mr. Lin is not a policeman， and he knows the same thing as officer Edward.（不，林木不是警察，而且他和爱德华警官你也同样认识）”
“何以见得？”林木问，他眼里的光越发亮了。
“因为爱德华警官无条件相信了你说的话，他进门来之后，没有查看失窃现场，没有询问别人，你说什么就是什么。”宋七梧胸有成竹的回答。
